2 > Go Low Flow

Using low flow showerheads and toilets can help save money and conserve water.

  • Over 30% of residential water usage occurs through toilet usage.

  • Federal standards currently allow a maximum of 1.6 gallons used per flush for new toilets. Many older toilets that are still in homes use much more water.

  • The Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Usage Authority is offering a $150 rebate to replace your home's current toilet with a low-flow toilet.

  • Since toilets have a 15 to 20-year life span, low flow toilets will lower your water bill for many years.

  • Low flow showerheads help reduce water waste, but don't lower showerhead pressure.

  • Low flow showerheads deliver 2.5 gallons of water per minute or less and are relatively inexpensive. Old style showerheads use five to seven gallons of water per minute.
